ESSAOUIRA, CREATIVE, CULTURAL AND SPORTIVE CITY

The province of Essaouira is unique and its climate is pleasant all year round with 320 days of sunshine. Essaouira is a temperate refuge where even in the middle of summer, we escape the stifling heat of the countryside, thanks to the oceanic trade winds. From the Atlantic Ocean to the first valleys of the Atlas Mountains, its natural resources and its biodiversity are the basis of much of its wealth. King Mohammed VI has granted Essaouira the status of city of history, art and heritage of Morocco. 

 

The actions and projects follow one another, testifying to a desire to preserve its heritage: International Argan Day, beach cleanups, waste management and recycling, call for projects for an eco-village: the province of Essaouira announces the color, and it will be green!

Historical medina 

Listed as a UNESCO world heritage, the fortified medina attracts tourists from all around the world. The medina is currently in refurbishment for a better valorisation. 

Agran tree

The argan tree, pillar of the Arganeraie biosphere, is fitted in the rural population daily life. Its wood is a source of energy, its foliage is a fodder for animals and its fruit gives agran oil, base of the local population nutrition.

Mogador golf

2 courses, 36 holes signed Gary Player, magical courses overlooking the ocean, between dunes and forest. They have been conceived in the respect of the their environment.

Kite-surf and wellness

Essaouira is a sportive city, well-know as an international kite-surfing and surfing destination. Several clubs were created in the region for beginners and  advanced. Also recognized as a wellness destination, Essaouira appeals townies thanks to yoga retreats.

Essaouira is ideally located at 3 hours flight from Europe, but also at 2h30 drive from Marrakech and 4 hours from Casablanca.
